Ballet exams are held each summer. Students
enter exams by invitation only from teachers.
Students are examined by Checchetti Council of
America examiners. Miss Michele, Miss Donna, and
Miss Anne are all members of Cecchetti Council of

All Pink Slipper students at age six begin training in Cecchetti Method. Cecchetti classes are based on
a specific syllabus designed by students of Enrico Cecchetti. There are three Primary levels before entering Grade One. There are four grade levels and
four professional levels. Primaries study for one year before they are invited to exam. Grade levels are higher and may study the work for one to two years
before taking an exam. Certified examiners from The Cecchetti Council of America from around the country come to The Pink Slipper each summer to hold exams.
Students who participate in this rather intensive study of ballet learn much about the discipline of this art form, as well as technical expertise.
Additionally, students must become profecient in classical ballet terminology. Some relevant ballet history is also introduced as a part of this work.
Cecchetti classes focus on the technical aspects of dance training and we encourage students to participate when invited to exams.
While exams are generally recommended, in some cases a student works through a particular level, and then oncy they have mastered that material, receive
an instructor's permission to move on to the next level without having taken an examination. Students benefit from exam experience, not merely through
technical preparation for the experience, but also by developing the confidence and poise required for a successful exam.

Cecchetti Information:
Enrico Cecchetti (1850 - 1928) was developer of what is probably the most influential ballet instruction method of the 20th century. Born in Italy, Cecchetti was a dancer, mime, choreographer and ballet master, and is one of the most important teachers in the history of ballet. His influence ranged from Petipa's Imperial Russian Ballet, the origin of so much of the canon of 'classical' ballets still danced today, to Diaghilev's ground breaking Ballets Russes company, which contributed so much to the birth of modern classical ballet. The method devised by Maestro Cecchetti was recorded and published in 1922 by Cyril Beaumont with the help of ldzikowski and Cecchetti.
